Digital Strategist

Note: This is a full time position based in Buffalo, NY.

JOB PURPOSE
This is a client-facing role that requires creativity, a can-do attitude, and deep knowledge of emerging digital marketing techniques.

Under the supervision of the Digital Marketing and Analytics Manager, the Digital Strategist position is focused on using current digital marketing best practices to deliver on clients’ digital marketing goals and objectives. This position is responsible for implementation of project deliverables related to search engine optimization (SEO), social media marketing, pay per click advertising (PPC), conversation rate optimization (CRO), and analytics.

The Digital Strategist is part of the Digital Marketing and Analytics team – a team focused on the day to day management of clients’ digital marketing projects and to supporting the sales effort as it relates to digital marketing opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) 

  • Helping to define strategy and metrics for search engine optimization on a client by client basis.
  • Implementation of code and content changes to improve traffic generated by search engines.
  • Utilization of third party tools to manage, track and optimize search engine performance.
  • Evaluate new functionality rolled out by third party tool providers, identify potential agency impact and share learnings, identify implementation best practices.
  • Stay current on changes in search engine landscape, including utilization, algorithms, etc.
  • Hold face-to-face meetings or video conference meetings with clients on a monthly basis to review project results and discuss next steps.

Social Media Marketing (B-to-B and B-to-C) 

  • Aid in the development and implementation of business-to-business (B-to-B) and business-to-consumer (B-to-C) social media strategies for clients.
  • Be a key part of the sales process to identify social media opportunities.
  • Gather and synthesize social insights to maximize the client’s impact in the social media space through listening tools.
  • Identify measures of success by continually monitoring and analyzing content performance and use insights for future strategies and tactics.
  • Stay up to date on social media trends and innovations and develop new ideas whenever possible.
  • Hold face-to-face meetings or video conference meetings with clients on a monthly basis to review project results and discuss next steps.

Pay per Click (PPC) / Search Engine Marketing (SEM) 

  • Manage clients’ PPC campaigns including budgets to generate key conversions.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze keywords that drive traffic to the website and positively impacts sales.
  • Own optimization of landing pages.
  • Hold face-to-face meetings or video conference meetings with clients on a monthly basis to review project results and discuss next steps.

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) 

  • Work directly on the implementation of website initiatives, including landing page development, site enhancements, and (sometimes) entire website projects.
  • Using industry knowledge, collaborate with team on ideas for maximizing conversion rate.

Analytics 

  • Implementation, tracking and integration of web analytics tools including Google Analytics and others.
  • Integration of Google Tag Manager (and/or other tag management systems) with websites for tracking key performance indicators.
  • Dashboard and custom report development to provide insights into key performance indicators on all digital marketing efforts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in digital marketing: SEO, PPC, Social Media, CRO, Analytics.
  • University degree in Marketing, Digital Media or related; MBA a plus.
  • Extremely comfortable being a client-facing resource.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML a plus.
  • Agency experience a plus.
  • Experience with WordPress or other content management systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid business acumen, management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including business intelligence and reporting software.
